Our Pre/Post-op Care serves patients who are having or have had medical procedures and need transportation to and from their procedure or follow-up appointments.
We provided individualized home care for clients who may not have family or friends available to stay with them or who prefer privacy with their health matters. Care is provided by a nurse experienced in both Preop and Post-op and who has experience from working in different recovery rooms and holds ASPAN certifications for both preop and post-op areas.
Basic things to expect Post-op
Care is provided by a Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (Both CPAN and CAPA certifications from ASPAN)
Experienced Recovery Room Nurse will be with you at discharge to ensure proper instructions, medications and materials are available as well as a basic assessment to ensure safety for discharge.
Your nurse will do a thorough assessment upon arrival to note any changes and establish a baseline.
Your nurse will go over your plan of care with you and explain treatments
Your nurse will give medications as ordered, position for comfort, check your Vital signs as well as monitor and care for equipment such as drains, ice machines, scrotal support, etc. (Dental Care differs as patients get suctioned and other pertinent care.)
Your nurse will go over the instructions again when you are more awake
Your nurse will do tasks you can't do such as feeding the dog/cat and letting the dog out
Your nurse will communicate any changes to the Surgeon’s office as needed
Before leaving, Your nurse will go over the instructions again, answer any questions, go over skills necessary for your care.
You get a complimentary follow-up phone call the next day to check on you, go over instructions and ensure you are safe and doing well.
So much more is done in caring for you with compassion and dignity
Another thing that sets me apart? Your nurse is an ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Provider and has invested in a Phillips AED. AEDs are expensive and not carried by home care nurses. The hope is to not use it but should it be necessary, you know you have someone who has been in multiple codes over the last 17 years and knows how to use emergency equipment.
(CPAN and CAPA are the two Certifications administered by ASPAN (American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses)
