I am so glad you finally branched out on your own. Gifty made the quick decision of taking mom to the ER when she wasn't doing well. Staying with her in the ER and making sure tasks were performed. She came home and later realized that Mom hadn't used the bathroom. Using her knowledge about
CT Scans with dyes, she got her drinking lots of fluids and the situation was mitigated. We would've dealt with the complication of Acute Kidney failure had it not been for the excellent knowledge AND intervention by Gifty.

(She was also there when mom had surgery later.)

I am the person colleagues have called to consult on their patients and sometimes, people are surprised to see me being called. I've been the person people call the Nursing Office to find out where I'm working because they want me to come help them with something. My experience in various units as a float nurse gave me an experience that most nurses don't have. And I keep educating myself. I have current copies of the Core Curriculum for PeriAnesthesia Nursing to reference if it's something I do not know and I have an extensive resource network I can reach out to for help or consultation if I don't know. I do not "wing it" when it comes to the precious life of another human. LIfe is too precious to take it for granted.
